Electrolytes

Electrolytes to add to your training bottle, in single-serve sticks, liquid drops, concentrates and tablets. The range is led by Trace Minerals Electrolyte Stamina Power Pak in over a dozen flavours, sugar-free Keto Electrolyte and 40,000 Volts concentrate, with Ultra Lyte Hydration Packets and Electrolyte Drops Sport+.

Pick a format for your training

  • Single-serve sticks: Trace Minerals Power Pak mixes into 2 to 3 oz of water, then dilutes to taste, and adds 1200 mg of vitamin C per stick. Hydro Pak Sport and ZeroLyte are further stick options.
  • Liquid sachets and drops: Ultra Lyte Hydration Packets hold 5 ml of concentrated liquid electrolytes, including magnesium and potassium, in a 12 or 30 pack. Ultra Lyte Electrolyte Drops Sport+ lets you dose a bottle drop by drop.
  • Concentrate: 40,000 Volts is strong and salty; the label suggests 15 to 20 drops in 24 oz of water, up to 1 teaspoon a day in total.
  • Tablets: Electrolyte Stamina Tablets in 90 or 300 suit long days when you would rather swallow than mix.

Sugar or sugar-free?

For gym sessions and shorter runs most people choose sugar-free: Trace Minerals Keto Electrolyte powders, sticks, tablets and drops, or the sugar-free Power Pak flavours. For long endurance efforts you also need carbohydrate, so look at Isotonic & Hydration Mixes or Endurance Fuel.

What electrolytes contribute

Magnesium contributes to electrolyte balance and to normal muscle function, and potassium contributes to normal muscle function. Sodium is the main mineral lost in sweat, which is why heavy sweaters often prefer saltier formulas such as 40,000 Volts or SaltyBoost. For general everyday hydration, see Electrolytes & Hydration.

Electrolytes: your questions answered

Am I a heavy sweater who needs more electrolytes?

If your kit shows white salt marks or you lose more than a kilogram during a session, you probably sweat heavily. Saltier products such as 40,000 Volts or Ultra Lyte SaltyBoost may suit you better.

Should I use a sugar-free electrolyte for the gym?

For most gym sessions, yes, as you need fluid and minerals rather than extra carbohydrate. Keep carbohydrate drinks for long or hard endurance efforts.

How much electrolyte concentrate should I add to my bottle?

Follow the label. For 40,000 Volts that is 15 to 20 drops per 24 oz of water, up to 1 teaspoon a day in total, and you can start with less and adjust to taste.

Can I take electrolytes every training day?

Yes, at the serving on the label. Power Pak contains 1200 mg of vitamin C per stick, so one a day is the usual routine.

Are electrolyte tablets as good as powders?

They provide minerals without flavour or mixing, which suits long days out. Powders and drops are easier if you like a flavoured drink or want to adjust the strength.
