Trace Minerals & Electrolytes covers 51 products: ConcenTrace drops, capsules and tablets, single ionic minerals such as selenium, chromium, iodine, copper and boron, potassium in capsules and powder, and Max-Hydrate effervescent electrolyte tablets. Most are from Trace Minerals, with NOW Foods, OstroVit, Essensey, Ultra Lyte and Source Naturals.
ConcenTrace Trace Mineral Drops are a low-sodium concentrate of ionic minerals from Utah's Great Salt Lake. The label says adults should start with 10 drops a day for the first three days and build up to 40 drops (2.5ml) spread through the day, or add 20 to 40 drops per gallon to remineralise filtered water. ConcenTrace also comes as capsules and tablets, alongside Utah Sea Minerals.
Potassium contributes to normal muscle function and to the maintenance of normal blood pressure. Choose 99mg capsules from NOW Foods or Trec, Essensey Potassium Forte, or NOW Foods Potassium Chloride Powder for larger measured servings. For training, Max-Hydrate Endurance tablets dissolve in water; the full drinks range is in Electrolytes & Hydration.
ConcenTrace is Trace Minerals' low-sodium concentrate of ionic minerals from the Great Salt Lake in Utah. You add drops to water or juice, building up gradually to the label serving.
Potassium capsules are conventionally limited to 99mg each, a small share of the 3,500mg adults need daily from food. Powder lets you measure a larger serving, but follow the label exactly.
Only if a doctor advises it. The NHS warns that older people may be less able to clear excess potassium, and anyone with kidney problems or on blood pressure medicine should check first.
The label gives a children's serving based on body weight, but check with a pharmacist or GP before giving any mineral supplement to a child.
Drop one tablet into 4 to 6 oz (about 120 to 180ml) of water, let it dissolve and add more water to taste. Use it before, during or after training.
