How much manganese is in a serving?
A 1.25ml serving of Trace Minerals Ionic Manganese (a quarter teaspoon, about 25 drops) gives 10mg manganese as manganese gluconate, plus 400mg ConcenTrace trace minerals providing 30mg magnesium and 70mg chloride. The 59ml bottle holds about 48 servings.
How do I take the drops?
Measure 1.25ml of Ionic Manganese with the dropper once a day and mix it into juice or food, which masks the strong mineral taste. Shake the bottle first and don't refrigerate it.
Is 10mg of manganese a lot?
Yes — it is five times the UK reference intake of 2mg, and the UK Expert Group on Vitamins and Minerals suggests no more than 4mg a day from supplements for most adults (0.5mg for older people). Ask your GP or pharmacist before taking the full serving daily, and never go above it.
What does manganese do?
Manganese contributes to the maintenance of normal bones, normal energy-yielding metabolism, the normal formation of connective tissue and the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
Why take manganese as liquid drops?
Drops let you take part of a serving if your GP suggests a lower amount, and they go into a drink rather than being swallowed whole. Apart from the minerals, the bottle contains only purified water, potassium sorbate as a preservative and citric acid.
Can I take it if I am pregnant or on medication?
Ask your GP, midwife or pharmacist first: Trace Minerals advises checking with a healthcare professional if you are pregnant, nursing or taking medication. Keep the bottle out of reach of children.
