Fertility, Pregnancy & Breastfeeding

This department follows the journey from trying to conceive to breastfeeding, almost entirely from Fairhaven Health: FertilAid, OvaBoost, CountBoost and FH PRO supplements for women and men, ovulation and pregnancy test strips, BabyDance lubricant, PeaPod pregnancy vitamins, Milkies nursing products and Trec folic acid.

Trying to conceive

NHS advice is to take 400 micrograms of folic acid a day while trying to conceive and until 12 weeks of pregnancy; supplemental folic acid intake increases maternal folate status. Fairhaven Health's formulas build on that:

  • For women: FertilAid for Women, OvaBoost, FertileCM and Myo-Inositol.
  • For men: FertilAid for Men, CountBoost and MotilityBoost. Zinc contributes to normal fertility and reproduction, and selenium contributes to normal spermatogenesis.
  • For couples: FH PRO for Men & Women and the FertilAid Value Pack put a women's and a men's formula in one order.
  • Tools: BFP ovulation and early pregnancy test strips, the Fertil Focus ovulation microscope and BabyDance lubricant, when in stock.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

PeaPod is Fairhaven's pregnancy range: Prenatal Multivitamins, PeaPod Cal-Mag and PeaPod Omega-3. For breastfeeding there is the Milkies Nursing Postnatal multivitamin and Nursing Time tea. Choose a multivitamin designed for pregnancy, as high-dose vitamin A (retinol) should be avoided while pregnant, and tell your midwife what you take. PeaPod Omega-3 and FH PRO Omega-3 provide DHA: maternal DHA intake contributes to normal brain and eye development of the foetus and breastfed infants, with 200 mg DHA a day on top of the 250 mg omega-3 recommended for adults.

Fertility, Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: your questions answered

When should I start taking folic acid?

NHS advice is 400 micrograms a day from when you start trying to conceive until you are 12 weeks pregnant. Some women are advised a higher dose by their GP, so ask if you have diabetes or a family history of neural tube defects.

Do you sell fertility supplements for men?

Yes: FertilAid for Men, CountBoost, MotilityBoost and FH PRO for Men. Zinc contributes to normal fertility and reproduction, and selenium contributes to normal spermatogenesis.

Can I keep taking FertilAid for Women once I am pregnant?

Fairhaven Health advises switching to a prenatal vitamin, such as PeaPod Prenatal, once pregnancy is confirmed. Check the label and talk to your midwife or GP.

Is there a pack for both partners?

Yes. FH PRO for Men & Women and the FertilAid Value Pack combine a women's and a men's formula, and more combinations are in our fertility bundles.

Do you sell ovulation and pregnancy tests?

Yes: Fairhaven Health BFP ovulation test strips, BFP early pregnancy test strips and the Fertil Focus ovulation microscope, when in stock.
