How much vitamin D is in one capsule?
4,000 IU, which is 100mcg of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) and 2,000% of the UK reference intake. Trec labels Vit. D3 4000 IU as its maximum dose.
Is 4,000 IU too much?
It's the top of the safe range: the NHS says adults shouldn't take more than 100mcg (4,000 IU) of vitamin D a day, which is exactly one capsule. So don't combine it with a multivitamin or another vitamin D product, and don't give it to young children.
How do I take it?
One capsule a day with a meal. Vitamin D is fat-soluble, so a meal containing some fat is a sensible time, and the 90 capsules last three months.
What does vitamin D do?
Vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system, the maintenance of normal bones and teeth, normal muscle function and the normal absorption of calcium. The NHS notes that from October to early March, UK sunlight isn't strong enough for the skin to make it.
