Vitamin C brings together 1000 mg capsules and tablets plus vitamin C combinations. Choose Trec Nutrition Vitamin C 1000, NOW Foods C-1000 with rose hips (sustained-release or with bioflavonoids), OstroVit collagen with vitamin C, or Trace Minerals liquid Ionic Zinc + Vitamin C.
The NHS says adults need 40 mg of vitamin C a day, which a varied diet with fruit and vegetables usually provides. Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system, to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, bones, cartilage and gums, and to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, and it increases iron absorption. That collagen claim is why collagen products often include vitamin C; collagen itself has no authorised claim.
On upper amounts, the NHS says less than 1,000 mg a day from supplements is unlikely to cause harm, and that larger amounts can cause stomach pain, diarrhoea and wind, which stop when you stop taking them. Take one 1000 mg product a day at most, not two together.

One 1000 mg tablet a day is right at the NHS guide level: it says less than 1,000 mg a day is unlikely to cause harm and larger amounts can cause stomach pain, diarrhoea and wind. Do not stack it with other vitamin C products.
A tablet designed to release its vitamin C gradually rather than all at once. NOW Foods C-1000 Sustained Release is our option, and some people find it gentler on the stomach.
Collagen itself has no authorised health claim, but vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, bones and cartilage. That is why OstroVit pairs the two.
It can make sense: vitamin C increases iron absorption, so taking it with an iron-rich meal or an iron supplement is a common pairing.
Its capsule shell is plant-based HPMC and its only other ingredient is an anti-caking agent, magnesium salts of fatty acids. Look for a vegan mark on the label if you need confirmation, as fatty acid salts can come from plant or animal sources.
