What's in each tablet?
1,000mg of vitamin C as ascorbic acid, 1,250% of the UK reference intake, plus 25mg of rose hips powder (Rosa canina). One tablet is the full daily amount.
What does sustained release mean?
NOW's label says the tablet is designed to release its vitamin C over an extended period rather than all at once. It suits people who'd rather not take a full gram in one hit.
How long does the bottle last?
100 days at one tablet a day. Breakfast is an easy time to take NOW C-1000 Sustained Release, so the release runs through your day.
What does vitamin C do?
Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system, the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin, and the protection of cells from oxidative stress. It also increases iron absorption.
Is 1,000mg a day too much?
One tablet is the most you should take. NHS guidance says more than 1,000mg of vitamin C a day can cause stomach pain, diarrhoea and wind, so don't add another high-dose vitamin C on top.
Sustained Release or the Bioflavonoids version?
We stock both NOW C-1000s with rose hips. This one releases gradually; NOW Vitamin C-1000 with Rose Hips & Bioflavonoids dissolves normally and adds 25mg of citrus bioflavonoids.
Is it vegan?
Yes, it's labelled vegetarian/vegan, made with cellulose, a vegetarian coating and vegetable magnesium stearate. It isn't made with wheat, gluten, soy, milk, egg, fish, shellfish or tree nut ingredients, and slight colour differences between tablets are normal.
