A spot appeared at 10pm - what can a sticker realistically do by morning?
More than you'd think. These hydrocolloid patches absorb fluid and oil from the blemish overnight while sealing it away from bacteria, pillowcases and your own fingers - by morning the patch has often turned white with what it pulled out, and the spot looks flatter and calmer.
How do I get them to actually stay on all night?
The trick is completely clean, completely dry skin - no moisturiser or oils under the patch, or it will slide off by 2am. Press it over the spot, hold for a few seconds, and it should still be there at your alarm.
Are these the same as the PanOxyl daytime patches?
Same hydrocolloid principle, different shift: the overnight patches are the plain absorb-and-protect dressing for maximum hours of wear, while the daytime invisible patches add salicylic acid and an ultra-thin edge for wearing under makeup. Night crew and day crew for the same spot.
Do they work on spots that haven't come to a head?
Hydrocolloid does its best work once there's fluid at the surface - whiteheads and just-burst spots. On deep, blind bumps use a benzoyl peroxide treatment first and bring the patch in once the spot surfaces.
