What's in the PanOxyl bundle?
One PanOxyl Acne Foaming Wash and one PanOxyl Acne Treatment Bar (113g), both with 10% benzoyl peroxide, the strongest level sold without a prescription in the US. Both carry the same labelled use: for the treatment of acne.
How do I split the wash and the bar between face and body?
Most people keep the foaming wash at the sink for the face and use the bar in the shower for the chest, back and shoulders. Either way, wet the skin, lather over the affected area, rinse thoroughly and pat dry.
How often should I use them?
Start with once a day for each product, then build up to two or three times daily only if your skin copes, as the labels allow. Use one product per area rather than washing the same patch with both in one go.
Can I use the bundle with other acne treatments?
Carefully. The labels warn that irritation and dryness are more likely with another topical acne medication at the same time, and to use only one if irritation occurs. Ask a pharmacist before pairing them with something like PanOxyl Adapalene Gel 0.1%.
What if 10% is too strong for my face?
Keep the bar for body breakouts and switch your face to the PanOxyl Acne Creamy Wash 4% we also stock. The labels note irritation may ease with less frequent use or a lower concentration; stop and ask a doctor if irritation becomes severe.
Will they bleach my towels and gym kit?
They can. Benzoyl peroxide may bleach hair and dyed fabrics, so with both a wash and a bar in use, switch to white towels and flannels and rinse your back well before pulling on a dark top.
Do I need sunscreen, and is it OK in pregnancy?
Use sunscreen: the bar's label says to avoid unnecessary sun exposure while using it. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, the PanOxyl labels say to ask a health professional before use.
