How strong are Stridex Single-Step Maximum pads?
Each pad holds 2% salicylic acid, the Maximum strength in the Stridex range, in an alcohol-free formula. The US label says it cleans, treats and helps prevent acne.
How do I use the pads?
Cleanse your skin thoroughly, then wipe a pad over the whole affected area, not just individual spots. The label allows one to three times a day, but start with once a day because the skin can dry out.
Do I rinse it off afterwards?
No, Stridex is a leave-on treatment, so let it dry before moisturiser or make-up. Keep it away from your eyes, lips and any broken skin.
Can I use it with benzoyl peroxide or retinoids?
The label warns that using another topical acne medicine at the same time can increase dryness and irritation, so use only one unless a doctor tells you otherwise. If you want both, use them at different times or on alternate days, and ask a pharmacist if your skin becomes sore.
Single-Step Maximum or the Stridex Aloe pads?
Single-Step Maximum has 2% salicylic acid for oily, resilient skin. The Stridex pads with aloe that we also stock are the Sensitive version, with 0.5% salicylic acid plus soothing aloe, and are the better start if 2% stings.
Can I use the pads on my chest and back?
Yes, wipe them over breakout-prone areas on the chest, shoulders or back as well as the face. Build up gradually on the body too, because larger areas can dry out just as quickly.
