Who is PanOxyl 10% Foaming Wash for?

People treating acne on the face, chest or back whose skin is not very sensitive. Its labelled use is "for the treatment of acne", and 10% benzoyl peroxide is the strongest level sold without a prescription in the US. The label says not to use it if you have very sensitive skin or are sensitive to benzoyl peroxide.

How do I use the foaming wash, and how often?

Wet the skin, massage the wash in for 1–2 minutes, then rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Start with one application a day and build up to two or three times daily only if needed, as the label directs. If dryness or peeling becomes bothersome, drop back to once a day or every other day.

How is the 10% Foaming Wash different from the PanOxyl 4% Creamy Wash?

The Foaming Wash is PanOxyl's maximum-strength 10% benzoyl peroxide wash in a 156g tube; the 4% Creamy Wash is the lower-strength "Daily Control" version in a 170g tube with a creamier base. Both share the same directions and warnings, and the label notes that irritation may be reduced by switching to a lower concentration, so the 4% is the usual swap if 10% proves too drying.

Can I use it alongside other acne treatments?

With care. The label warns that irritation and dryness are more likely if you use another topical acne medication at the same time, and says to use only one at a time if irritation occurs. Apply sunscreen afterwards if you are going outside.

Will PanOxyl 10% bleach my towels or hair?

It can. The label says to avoid contact with hair and dyed fabrics because benzoyl peroxide may bleach them, so rinse thoroughly, use white towels and keep the lather away from your hairline.

What reactions are normal, and when should I stop?

Some redness, burning, itching or peeling can occur, and the label says this may ease if you use the wash less often. Stop and ask a doctor if irritation becomes severe.
