What's in a daily serving?
Two tablets give 750 mg calcium (94% RI) as calcium carbonate, 50 µg (2,000 IU) vitamin D3 and 100 µg vitamin K2 as MK-7 from natto. Each tablet carries half of that.
How do I take it, and how long does the tub last?
Two tablets once a day, before a meal. The 90-tablet tub of OstroVit Vitamin D3 + K2 + Calcium holds 45 servings, so it lasts 45 days.
Why calcium, D3 and K2 together?
Calcium and vitamins D and K all contribute to the maintenance of normal bones, and vitamin D contributes to the normal absorption and use of calcium and phosphorus. Calcium also contributes to normal muscle function.
Who shouldn't take it?
The label says it's for healthy adults under 75, and not for children, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or anyone taking vitamin K antagonist blood thinners such as warfarin or acenocoumarol. OstroVit also suggests a 25(OH)D blood test and a word with your doctor or pharmacist before you start.
Can I take it with a multivitamin?
Check the multivitamin's vitamin D and calcium first. One serving of OstroVit Vitamin D3 + K2 + Calcium already gives 1,000% of the vitamin D reference intake and nearly all of the calcium reference intake, so doubling up usually isn't needed.
When is OstroVit Vitamin D3 4000 IU + K2 the better choice?
If you already get plenty of calcium from dairy or fortified foods, OstroVit Vitamin D3 4000 IU + K2 is one tablet a day with no calcium. This formula is for people who want the calcium included, with a lower 2,000 IU of D3.
