What's in one capsule?
1,000 mg fish oil providing 330 mg EPA and 220 mg DHA, plus 50 µg (2,000 IU) vitamin D3, 50 µg vitamin K2 as MK-7 and 12 mg vitamin E. One capsule is the full daily serving.
How long do 90 capsules last?
90 days, three months at one capsule a day. OstroVit Omega 3 D3+K2 180 capsules, which we also stock, is the same capsule in a six-month tub.
How should I take OstroVit Omega 3 D3+K2?
One capsule a day, preferably after a meal, with plenty of water. Because 2,000 IU of vitamin D is 1,000% of the reference intake, the label suggests a 25(OH)D blood test and a word with your doctor or pharmacist before you start.
What do the omega-3 and vitamins do?
EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart, and each capsule gives 550 mg against the 250 mg a day that claim needs. Vitamin D contributes to normal immune function and the maintenance of normal bones and muscle function, and vitamin K to normal blood clotting and normal bones.
Can I take it if I'm on warfarin?
No. The label says people taking vitamin K antagonist anticoagulants such as warfarin or acenocoumarol should not use it, because of the vitamin K2. Talk to your GP or anticoagulation clinic instead.
Is it suitable in pregnancy or for vegetarians?
The label says it should not be used by children, pregnant women or breastfeeding mothers. It isn't vegetarian either: OstroVit Omega 3 D3+K2 is fish oil in a gelatine capsule, made in a facility that also handles milk, soy, nuts, gluten and crustaceans.
