Your questions, answered
How many drops should my child have?
Children aged 1–6 have 5 drops a day; children and teenagers aged 7–18 have 10 drops a day. Shake the bottle first and don't go over the daily amount.
How do I give the drops?
Drip them onto a spoon or stir them into a drink at room temperature, as the label directs. The KIDS drops are unflavoured, so a little water or juice hides them easily.
What's 'methyl' about it?
It uses active forms of three B vitamins: methylcobalamin for B12, calcium L-methylfolate for folate and pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (P-5-P) for B6. The drops also contain B1, B2, niacin, pantothenic acid and biotin, in a glycerin base.
How much of each vitamin is in a dose?
Five drops supply about a quarter of the reference intake of each listed B vitamin, and 10 drops about half: for example, 50mcg folate and 0.625mcg B12 per 5 drops, doubling at 10. It's a gentle daily top-up rather than a high-strength dose.
What do B vitamins do for children?
Vitamin B12, vitamin B6, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid and biotin contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism, and folate contributes to normal blood formation.
KIDS drops or the adult Methyl B-Complex drops?
Keep them separate. The KIDS bottle is dosed by age from 1 to 18, while OstroVit Pharma Methyl B-Complex drops 30ml carry an adult serving, so follow the table on whichever bottle you're using.
Any allergens or cautions?
The manufacturer notes the KIDS drops may contain traces of milk (including lactose), soy, peanuts and other allergens from production, and they shouldn't be used if your child is allergic to any ingredient. If your child has a health condition or takes medication, check with your GP first.
