Yes, when it carries an acne-fighting active. Body Clear is a salicylic acid acne treatment wash: per its US labelling it treats body breakouts and helps prevent new ones on the back, chest and shoulders, where pores clog easily and ordinary shower gel doesn't help.
How do I use it so the salicylic acid actually gets a chance to work?
Lather it over breakout-prone areas in the shower and let it sit for a moment before rinsing - washing it straight off gives the active less contact time. Use it daily and give it a few weeks of consistency. Follow the label directions closely, and ask a pharmacist if you're unsure whether it suits you.
Does it smell medicinal? I don't want to smell like a pharmacy.
Quite the opposite - the pink grapefruit scent is fresh and zesty, more fruity shower gel than clinical treatment. It's one of the reasons this wash has such a loyal following in the US.
Body wash or the Body Clear scrub - which one do I want?
Both carry salicylic acid; the wash is the gentle everyday cleanse, while the scrub adds exfoliating beads for buffing away rough, congested skin a few times a week. Many people keep both in the shower and alternate.
