What's in Neutrogena Stubborn Body Acne Cleanser?
1% salicylic acid, which the US label gives as the acne treatment active, plus gluconolactone, a PHA that Neutrogena adds for gentle exfoliation. The 250ml formula is fragrance-free.
How do I use it?
Wet your body, massage Stubborn Body Acne Cleanser over your skin for 20–30 seconds, then rinse thoroughly and pat dry. Neutrogena recommends it for daily use, and it's designed for the back, chest and shoulders.
Is 1% salicylic acid strong enough?
It's a 1% rinse-off formula, with the PHA adding a second exfoliating ingredient. If you want 2%, Neutrogena Body Clear Body Wash in Pink Grapefruit, which we also stock, has 2% salicylic acid but contains fragrance.
Can I use it with other acne treatments?
With care: the label says irritation and dryness are more likely if you use another topical acne medicine at the same time. If irritation occurs, use only one acne product at a time.
Can I use it on my face?
It's designed and directed for the body, especially the back, chest and shoulders. Keep it away from your eyes, and flush with water straight away if it gets in.
Cleanser or the Stubborn Body Acne Spray?
The Stubborn Body Acne Cleanser is the rinse-off step in the shower; the Neutrogena Stubborn Body Acne Spray (162ml), which we also stock, is a separate leave-on product. Check the spray's label before using both, since two acne actives together can increase dryness.
