How to apply it
Cleanse the skin thoroughly, then use a pad to cover the entire affected area with a thin layer one to three times daily. Because excessive drying of the skin may occur, start with one application daily, then gradually increase to two or three times daily if needed or as directed by a doctor.

What's the active ingredient in Rapid Clear pads?
Salicylic acid 2%, the top strength allowed in US over-the-counter acne products, which is why Neutrogena labels Rapid Clear Maximum Strength. Its labelled use is the treatment of acne.
How do I use the pads?
Cleanse your skin thoroughly first, then wipe a pad over the whole affected area to leave a thin layer, one to three times a day. Start with once a day, because the skin can dry out, and build up only if needed.
Do I rinse it off afterwards?
No — Rapid Clear is a leave-on treatment, so let it dry before moisturiser or make-up. If dryness or peeling bothers you, the label says to cut back to once a day or every other day.
Can I use it with benzoyl peroxide or another acne product?
The label warns that irritation and dryness are more likely if you use another topical acne medication at the same time. If irritation occurs, use only one acne product unless a doctor says otherwise, and ask a pharmacist if you're unsure.
Are there any other warnings?
The pads contain alcohol and are flammable, so keep them away from fire or flame, and keep them out of your eyes; if contact occurs, flush with water. The label also carries a sunburn alert, so wear sunscreen and limit sun exposure while using Rapid Clear.
How long does a tub of 60 last?
A month at two pads a day, or two months at one a day. Keep the lid tightly closed so the pads don't dry out.
Rapid Clear or Stridex pads?
Both use 2% salicylic acid on a pad. Neutrogena Rapid Clear contains alcohol, while Stridex Single-Step Acne Control, which we also stock, is alcohol-free and may suit you better if alcohol stings your skin.
