Which strains are in Fem-Dophilus?
Each capsule holds a 155 mg blend giving 1 billion CFU of two named strains: Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GR-1 and Limosilactobacillus reuteri RC-14. Jarrow guarantees at least 1 billion live cells at the time of use, if stored as directed and used within the best-before date.
How do I take it?
One capsule a day, with or without food, so the 30 capsules last a month. If you're also taking antibiotics, Jarrow's US label suggests taking them at least 1–2 hours apart.
Does Fem-Dophilus need to go in the fridge?
No. This version is shelf-stable: keep it in a cool, dry place below 25°C. Refrigeration is optional, though Jarrow says it extends shelf life.
Is 1 billion CFU enough when other products list 50 billion?
Fem-Dophilus is built around two specific strains, GR-1 and RC-14, rather than a big headline count, so the strain names tell you more than the number. Live cultures have no authorised health claims in the UK, so we describe the formula and leave out the US packaging claims.
Is it vegan and allergen-free?
Yes. It's labelled vegan, comes in a hypromellose (plant) capsule and is made with no wheat, gluten, soy, dairy, egg, fish, shellfish, peanuts, tree nuts or sesame.
Can I take Fem-Dophilus during pregnancy?
Check with your GP or midwife first. Jarrow's label asks you to consult a healthcare professional before use if you're pregnant, breastfeeding, under 18, taking medication or have a medical condition.
