Each Jarrow N-A-C Sustain tablet contains 600mg of N-acetyl-L-cysteine, with no other active ingredient. NAC has no authorised health claim in the UK, so we describe it by dose and format only.
How many tablets should I take?
One tablet once or twice a day, preferably on an empty stomach with fruit juice, according to Jarrow's label. The 60 tablets last 60 days at one a day or 30 days at two.
What does the bi-layer tablet do?
Each tablet has two layers: one releases part of the NAC quickly and the other releases the rest gradually, which is what Jarrow means by quick plus sustained release. It is designed to spread a 600mg dose out instead of delivering it all at once.
Does NAC affect blood tests?
It can affect the results: Jarrow's label says prolonged or high intake may alter liver function test results without affecting liver function itself. Tell your doctor you take N-A-C Sustain before any liver function tests.
Is N-A-C Sustain vegan?
Yes — the bottle is marked vegan, gluten-free and non-GMO, with no major allergens. The pinkish colour comes from beetroot powder.
Who should check with a professional first?
The label asks you to consult a healthcare professional before use if you are pregnant or nursing, under 18, taking medication or have a medical condition, and to stop if you have an adverse reaction.
