Your questions, answered
When should I take Dramamine before a journey?
Take the first dose 30 to 60 minutes before you set off; the label says ½ to 1 hour before starting the activity to prevent motion sickness. Dramamine Original Formula can also be taken once nausea, vomiting or dizziness have started.
How many tablets can an adult take?
Adults and children 12 and over take 1 to 2 tablets every 4–6 hours, and no more than 8 tablets in 24 hours unless a doctor says otherwise. Each tablet contains 50mg dimenhydrinate.
What's the dose for children?
Ages 6 to under 12: ½ to 1 tablet every 6–8 hours, no more than 3 in 24 hours. Ages 2 to under 6: ½ tablet every 6–8 hours, no more than 1½ in 24 hours; don't give it to children under 2 unless a doctor directs.
Will it make me drowsy?
It can — the label warns that marked drowsiness may occur, so take care driving or operating machinery. Avoid alcohol, as alcohol, sedatives and tranquillisers can increase the drowsiness.
Who should ask a doctor before taking it?
Anyone with glaucoma, a breathing problem such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis, or trouble urinating due to an enlarged prostate, and anyone pregnant or breastfeeding. Ask a doctor or pharmacist first if you take sedatives or tranquillisers.
How long will a pack of 36 last?
At the adult maximum of 8 tablets a day, 36 tablets cover 4½ days of continuous use. Taken at 1–2 tablets per trip, that's 18 to 36 journeys.
Original Formula or another Dramamine?
Original Formula is the 50mg dimenhydrinate tablet. We also stock Dramamine Less Drowsy raspberry chewables (meclizine 25mg), Dramamine Non-Drowsy capsules with natural ginger and Dramamine Motion Sickness for Kids chewables; doses and ages differ, so read each label.
