Questions

Your questions, answered

What is YeastCalm labelled for?

Boiron's label says YeastCalm temporarily relieves symptoms of vaginal yeast infection (thrush), such as minor itching, burning, discomfort and discharge. These uses are based on traditional homeopathic practice, not accepted medical evidence.

How do I use the suppositories?

Insert one suppository high into the vagina every night for 7 nights in a row, using the applicator in the box. The 7 suppositories make one full course, for adults and children aged 12 and over.

Should I see a doctor first?

Yes, if it's your first yeast infection: Boiron says a first-time diagnosis should come from a doctor. The label also says to ask a doctor before use if you have abdominal pain, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting or foul-smelling discharge, get infections often (monthly, or three in six months), or may have been exposed to HIV.

When should I stop using it?

Stop and see a doctor if symptoms don't improve within 3 days, are still there after 7 days, or if you get abdominal pain, fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, foul-smelling discharge or hives.

Can I use condoms or tampons during the course?

Don't rely on condoms: the label warns that YeastCalm may damage condoms and diaphragms and cause them to fail. During the 7 nights, avoid tampons, douches, spermicides and vaginal sex.

What's in YeastCalm, and can I use it when pregnant?

Each suppository contains borax 14X, Calendula officinalis 1X, Candida albicans 30X and Hydrastis canadensis (goldenseal) in a gelatin and glycerin base, with no parabens or preservatives. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, the label says to ask a health professional before use.

Individual results may vary.
