What does the Diaralia label say it's for?
Boiron's US label says Diaralia temporarily relieves symptoms of diarrhoea such as traveller's diarrhoea, intestinal pain, bloating, gas, nausea and vomiting. Boiron notes that these claims are based on traditional homeopathic practice, not accepted medical evidence.
How do I take the tablets?
Adults and children aged 6 and over: at the first symptoms, let 2 tablets dissolve under the tongue every 4 to 6 hours, for no more than 2 days, and stop as soon as symptoms go. The label also says to drink plenty of clear fluids to help prevent dehydration.
Can younger children take Diaralia?
From age 6 the dose is the same as for adults. For children under 6, the label says to ask a doctor.
When should I see a doctor instead?
Ask a doctor before using Diaralia if you have a fever, bloody or black stools, or mucus in your stools. Stop and ask a doctor if symptoms last more than 2 days or get worse.
What's in each tablet?
Three homeopathic actives at 0.8mg each: Arsenicum album 9C, Cinchona officinalis 5C and Podophyllum peltatum 9C. The tablet base is lactose with croscarmellose sodium and magnesium stearate, so ask a pharmacist first if you're lactose intolerant.
Is it OK in pregnancy or with other medicines?
If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, the label says to ask a health professional before use. The Diaralia box states no known drug interactions, but tell your pharmacist what else you take.
How many doses are in a box?
60 tablets make 30 two-tablet doses. Even at the most frequent schedule, every 4 hours for the full 2 days, one course uses 24 tablets, so a box covers at least two episodes; store it below 30°C.
