What's in one Digezyme tablet?
150 mg of the DigeZyme multi-enzyme complex, giving alpha-amylase 3,600 DU, neutral protease 900 PC, lactase 600 ALU, lipase 30 FIP and cellulase 165 CU. The enzymes are made by fermentation using Aspergillus oryzae, Bacillus subtilis, Rhizopus oryzae and Trichoderma longibrachiatum.
How many tablets do I take?
One tablet a day, so the 90 tablets last 90 days. OstroVit's label doesn't specify a time, but most people take enzymes with their main meal, when there's food for them to work on.
What does each enzyme work on?
Amylase works on starch, protease on protein, lipase on fat, lactase on lactose (milk sugar) and cellulase on plant fibre. Digestive enzymes have no authorised health claims in the UK, so we describe what's in Digezyme rather than promise results.
Does Digezyme contain lactose or other allergens?
There's no lactose in the ingredients, which are microcrystalline cellulose, the DigeZyme complex, starch, magnesium salts of fatty acids and silicon dioxide. The label warns it may contain milk (including lactose), soy, peanuts, other nuts, sesame, gluten, eggs, crustaceans and fish.
Who shouldn't take it?
The label says children and breastfeeding women must not take Digezyme. If you're pregnant or on regular medication, check with your GP or pharmacist before starting.
