How many tablets do I take?
Three tablets twice a day, so six a day, giving 2,400 mg dried brewer's yeast. The 200-tablet tub lasts about 33 days at that rate.
What is inactive brewer's yeast?
It's dried Saccharomyces cerevisiae that has been deactivated, so it can't ferment or raise dough. OstroVit Brewer's Yeast presses it into tablets, so there's no bitter powder to stir into drinks.
Does it contain gluten?
Yes — the label says the yeast contains gluten, so it isn't suitable for coeliacs or a gluten-free diet.
How much vitamin B is in it?
OstroVit's label doesn't declare any vitamin amounts, just 1,200 mg yeast per three tablets, so we can't make B-vitamin claims for it. If you want measured B vitamins, OstroVit Pharma Methyl B-Complex drops, which we also stock, list each vitamin in methylated forms such as methylcobalamin.
Is it vegan?
Yes — yeast is a fungus, and OstroVit lists these tablets as vegan. They may contain traces of milk, soya, peanuts, nuts, sesame, oats, eggs, crustaceans and fish.
Who shouldn't take it?
The label says children and pregnant or breastfeeding women must not take OstroVit Brewer's Yeast, and anyone allergic to yeast should avoid it. Brewer's yeast is naturally high in purines, so check with your GP first if you have gout.
