How to use it

How much berberine is in each tablet?
10mg. Each tablet holds 500mg of Berberis aristata root extract standardised to 2% berberine, so the 500mg on the label is the extract, not the berberine itself.
Why is the berberine amount so much lower than in other brands?
OstroVit says 10mg of berberine is the most it puts in a daily serving as a food supplement. For comparison, Source Naturals Berberine 500mg, which we also stock, gives 500mg of berberine HCl per capsule.
How do I take it?
One tablet a day during a meal. That's the full daily serving, so the 90 tablets of OstroVit Berberine VEGE last three months.
Does berberine help with blood sugar?
We can't say it does: berberine has no authorised health claims in the UK. If you have diabetes or take any prescribed medicine, speak to your GP or pharmacist before taking it.
Is it vegan?
Yes, OstroVit lists it as vegan. The tablet is barberry root extract with cellulose, starch, silicon dioxide and magnesium salts of fatty acids, and it may contain traces of milk, soya, peanuts, nuts, sesame, gluten, eggs, crustaceans and fish.
Who shouldn't take it?
The label says children and pregnant or breastfeeding women must not take OstroVit Berberine VEGE.
