How much berberine is in each capsule?
Each Essensey Berberine + Turmeric capsule has 300mg barberry root extract standardised to 2% berberine, which is about 6mg of berberine itself. That's much less than single-ingredient berberine products such as Source Naturals Berberine 500mg, which we also stock, so compare labels before you buy.
And how much turmeric?
300mg turmeric extract standardised to 95% curcumin, so about 285mg curcumin per capsule — far more concentrated than turmeric used as a spice.
How do I take Essensey Berberine + Turmeric?
One capsule once a day, swallowed whole with plenty of liquid. The 90-capsule tub lasts 90 days, but the label says to use it within 3 months of opening.
Does it lower blood sugar?
We can't say that — berberine and turmeric have no authorised health claims in the UK, and a food supplement isn't a treatment for blood sugar problems. If you have diabetes or take blood-sugar medication, speak to your GP before taking any berberine product.
Who shouldn't take it?
The label says children and pregnant or breastfeeding women must not take it. Check with your GP or pharmacist first if you take regular medication, as berberine and curcumin can interact with some medicines.
Is it suitable for vegans?
The ingredients are plant extracts in a hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (plant-based) capsule with a magnesium-salt anti-caking agent. The label warns it may contain traces of milk, soy, gluten, eggs, fish, peanuts and nuts.
Essensey or Trec Berberine + Turmeric?
The doses match: Trec Nutrition Berberine + Turmeric, which we also stock, has the same 300mg of each extract per capsule but in a 60-capsule tub. Essensey Berberine + Turmeric gives 90 capsules, a month longer.
