How much collagen is in Collagen+?
Two capsules give 1,000mg of SOLUGEL type I collagen hydrolysate and 61mg of vitamin C, which is 76% of the reference intake. That's the '1000 mg collagen' on the front of the jar.
How do I take it, and how long does a jar last?
Two capsules a day with water, during or just after a meal, so a jar of 90 Collagen+ capsules lasts 45 days.
Why does Collagen+ include vitamin C?
Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of bones, cartilage and skin, which is the authorised claim behind the 'joint & bone support' on the label. Collagen itself has no authorised health claims in the UK.
Collagen+, Collagen Anti Age or Collagen Forte?
Collagen+ is collagen plus vitamin C at 2 capsules a day. ESSENSEY Collagen Anti Age adds 45mg of hyaluronic acid to a similar collagen and vitamin C dose, while Collagen Forte is collagen only at 2,400mg a day from 4 capsules.
Is it suitable for vegetarians or vegans?
No. The capsule shell is plant-based hypromellose, but collagen hydrolysate comes from animals, and the label doesn't name the source, so contact us first if you avoid particular animals.
Who shouldn't take it?
Essensey's collagen labels say they aren't for children or for pregnant or breastfeeding women. If you take medication or have an allergy, check the ingredients and may-contain statement on the jar first.
