What is Boiron SleepCalm for?
Its US label says SleepCalm temporarily relieves occasional sleeplessness, restless sleep and intermittent awakening, and helps reduce difficulty falling asleep due to nervousness or worries. Boiron notes the claims are based on traditional homeopathic practice, not accepted medical evidence.
How do I take it?
Adults and children 12 and over let 2 tablets dissolve under the tongue at bedtime. No water is needed, and the tablets are unflavoured.
How many nights does a box last?
30 nights: there are 60 meltaway tablets and each bedtime dose is 2.
Does SleepCalm contain melatonin?
No — it's melatonin-free. The actives are homeopathic dilutions of Hyoscyamus niger 3C, Nux moschata 4C, Passiflora incarnata 3X and Stramonium 6X, in tablets made with croscarmellose sodium, lactose and magnesium stearate.
Can my child take SleepCalm?
Children 12 and over follow the adult directions, but for under-12s the label says to ask a doctor. Boiron makes separate SleepCalm Kids pellets and liquid doses, which we also stock; check their own labels for ages and doses.
When should I see a doctor?
Stop and ask a doctor if sleeplessness continues for more than 2 weeks or gets worse; the label warns insomnia may be a symptom of a serious underlying illness. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, ask a health professional before use.
Is SleepCalm OK if I avoid lactose?
Check with a pharmacist first, as lactose is one of the three inactive ingredients. Boiron says SleepCalm has no artificial colours, flavours or sweeteners.
