What is SleepCalm Kids labelled for?
Boiron's US label says it temporarily relieves occasional sleeplessness in children linked to upsets, excitement or schedule changes, such as restless sleep, waking in the night, irritability, nightmares and night terrors. Boiron states that these claims are based on traditional homeopathic practice, not accepted medical evidence.
How many pellets do I give?
For children aged 3 and over, dissolve 5 pellets under the tongue at bedtime, and again during the night if needed, up to 2 doses a night. For children under 3, ask a doctor.
Does SleepCalm Kids contain melatonin?
No — the box states that it's melatonin-free. The actives are six homeopathic dilutions: Chamomilla, Gelsemium sempervirens, Hyoscyamus niger, Kali bromatum and Stramonium at 9C, and Passiflora incarnata at 3C.
How long does a box last?
The two SleepCalm Kids tubes of about 80 pellets give roughly 32 doses of 5. At one dose a night that's about a month, or 16 nights if your child needs the second dose every night.
Is there sugar in the pellets?
Yes, a little: the pellets are lactose and sucrose, with about 0.25g of sugar per dose. Boiron SleepCalm Kids Liquid Doses, which we also stock, are the liquid version, which Boiron says contains no lactose or sugar.
When should I see a doctor?
Stop and ask a doctor if sleeplessness lasts more than 3 days or gets worse, because the label notes that insomnia can be a symptom of an underlying illness. Don't use it if your child is allergic to any of the ingredients.
