What is SleepCalm Kids used for?
SleepCalm Kids Liquid Doses is a homeopathic medicine whose US label says it temporarily relieves occasional sleeplessness in children linked to upsets, excitement or schedule changes, such as restless sleep, waking in the night, irritability, nightmares and night terrors. Boiron states these claims are based on traditional homeopathic practice, not accepted medical evidence.
What age is it for, and how much do I give?
Children aged 3 and over. Give one 1ml dose at bedtime and, if needed, a second during the night, up to 2 doses a night.
How do the liquid doses work?
Tear open the foil pouch, snap off one vial, twist it open and squeeze the whole 1ml into your child's mouth, then throw the vial away. Unused vials keep in the opened pouch for up to 3 months below 25°C; don't refrigerate or freeze them.
Does it contain melatonin?
No. Each vial holds six homeopathic actives (Chamomilla, Gelsemium sempervirens, Hyoscyamus niger, Kali bromatum and Stramonium at 9C, Passiflora incarnata at 3C) in purified water with 0.0015% alcohol, and no preservatives, flavours, dyes, lactose or sugar.
How many nights does a box of SleepCalm Kids last?
15 nights at one dose a night, or about a week if your child also needs the second dose during the night.
When should we see a doctor?
Stop and ask a doctor if the sleep problems last more than 3 days or get worse; the label notes insomnia can be a sign of an underlying illness. Don't use it if your child is allergic to any of the ingredients.
Liquid doses or SleepCalm Kids Pellets?
Both are Boiron's melatonin-free sleep remedies for children aged 3 and over. The liquid doses suit children who won't hold pellets in the mouth; Boiron SleepCalm Kids Pellets are the alternative for children happy to let them dissolve.
