What is Oscillococcinum labelled for?
Boiron's US label says it temporarily relieves flu-like symptoms such as body aches, headache, fever, chills and fatigue. Boiron notes that these uses have not been evaluated by the US Food and Drug Administration.
How do I take a dose?
Dissolve the entire contents of one tube in the mouth every 6 hours, up to 3 times a day; this applies to adults and children aged 2 and over. Boiron recommends starting as soon as symptoms appear.
How long does the 30-dose box last?
At the maximum of 3 tubes a day, 30 doses last one person 10 days, or cover shorter courses for several people. The Boiron Oscillo 12 Dose box, which we also stock, is the same product in a smaller pack.
What's in the pellets?
The active in Oscillococcinum is Anas barbariae 200CK HPUS, a homeopathic dilution, on pellets made of lactose and sucrose. Each 1g dose contains 1g of sugar, worth knowing if you're diabetic or lactose intolerant.
Can children take Oscillo?
Yes, from age 2, at the same dose as adults. For children under 2, the label says to ask a doctor before use.
Can I take Oscillococcinum with other medicines?
Boiron's box says non-drowsy and no drug interactions. If you take regular medication and are unsure, check with a pharmacist first.
When should I see a doctor?
Stop and ask a doctor if symptoms last more than 3 days or get worse. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, check with a health professional before use.
