Is this Blistex Medicated Lip Balm?
Yes — the stick is Blistex Medicated Lip Balm SPF 15 in the 0.15oz (4.25g) size. Its US label says it temporarily protects and helps relieve chapped or cracked lips, and helps prevent sunburn.
What are the active ingredients?
Dimethicone 2% as the lip protectant, plus octinoxate 6.6% and octisalate 4.4% as sunscreens. Camphor and menthol are in the base too, which is where the light tingle comes from.
How often should I reapply in the sun?
Apply it liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure and reapply at least every 2 hours. Use a water-resistant sunscreen if you're swimming or sweating, and ask a doctor before using it on children under 6 months.
Can I use it on split or bleeding lips?
No — the label says not to use it on damaged or broken skin. Stop and ask a doctor if a rash develops.
Is Blistex Medicated Lip Balm vegan?
No — the base includes beeswax and lanolin, along with cocoa seed butter, petrolatum and flavour. Avoid it if you don't use animal-derived ingredients or react to lanolin.
Can I leave it in the car or a coat pocket in the sun?
Not in direct heat: the label says to protect the stick from excessive heat and direct sun. A pocket or bag out of the sun is fine.
