How strong is each chew?
Each Very Cherry chew contains 1,177mg of calcium carbonate, which is why the pack says Ultra Strength; that supplies 470mg of elemental calcium. The 32 chews are individually wrapped.
How many can I take?
Adults and children 12 and over chew 2–3 as symptoms occur. Don't take more than 6 chews in 24 hours, or more than 4 if you're pregnant, and don't use the maximum dose for more than 2 weeks except under a doctor's advice.
What is Tums used for?
The US label lists heartburn, sour stomach, acid indigestion and the upset stomach that comes with them. If symptoms last more than 2 weeks, speak to a pharmacist or GP.
Can I take it with prescription medicine?
Ask a doctor or pharmacist first: the label warns that antacids may interact with certain prescription drugs.
Are the chews dairy-free or vegan?
No — Tums Very Cherry chews contain non-fat dairy milk and soy lecithin, plus corn syrup, sucrose and the colour FD&C Red 40. They aren't suitable for vegans or anyone avoiding milk or soy.
Very Cherry chews or Tums Chewy Bites?
Both are soft calcium carbonate antacids. Choose Very Cherry for a single cherry flavour at the Ultra Strength dose, and check the Chewy Bites pack for its own strength and dosing before switching.
Can I keep a pack in my bag or by the bed?
Yes, as long as it stays below 25°C, as the label says, and out of children's reach: Tums chews look and taste like sweets.
