This is the maximum over-the-counter benzoyl peroxide strength - per the US label it's for the treatment of acne, working against the bacteria involved in spots and helping clear existing blemishes. It's the step people take when lower strengths haven't done enough.
How should I use something this strong?
Start with one thin application daily on affected areas after cleansing, building up only as skin tolerates, exactly as the US label directs. Expect some dryness or peeling at first - that's common with benzoyl peroxide at this strength.
Should I start with the 5% version instead?
If your skin is new to benzoyl peroxide, yes - the 5% cream is the standard starting point, and many people find it's all they need. Move up to 10% only if the lower strength is well tolerated but not clearing things.
Anything it will ruin?
Towels, pillowcases and clothing - benzoyl peroxide bleaches fabric, so use white towels and let it dry fully. Avoid eyes, lips and broken skin, and if dryness gets ahead of you, drop back to alternate days. Follow the label; ask a pharmacist if unsure.
