What's in Calm Child syrup?
A blend of extracts of chamomile flower, jujube seed, hawthorn berry, catnip, lemon balm, long pepper, liquorice root, amla fruit and gotu kola, plus magnesium taurinate, calcium carbonate and anise, cassia and clove oils. The base is vegetable glycerin and water, preserved with potassium sorbate and potassium benzoate.
How much do I give, and from what age?
Children aged 1 to 5 take 1/4 teaspoon (about 1.25ml) and children over 5 take 1/2 teaspoon (about 2.5ml), two or three times a day. Shake well, then give it straight or mixed into water or juice; the label has no dose for babies under 1.
How long does the 118ml bottle last?
The label counts 47 half-teaspoon servings, so a child over 5 taking it three times a day gets about 15 days. At the 1/4-teaspoon dose for under-5s, the same bottle lasts about a month.
Is Calm Child a homeopathic remedy?
No — Calm Child is a herbal syrup made with plant extracts, not a homeopathic remedy. Herbs such as chamomile and lemon balm have no authorised health claims in the UK, so we describe what's in it rather than promise a calmer child.
Does it contain sugar or alcohol?
