What's the active ingredient?
2% salicylic acid, the top strength allowed in US over-the-counter acne products, which is what the 'Maximum' refers to. Each OXY Maximum Cleansing pad comes pre-soaked, so you cleanse and apply the medicine in one swipe.
How often should I use the pads?
Start with one pad a day on clean skin, leaving a thin layer over the affected area, and build up to 2 or 3 times a day only if you need to. If your skin gets dry or starts peeling, cut back to once a day or every other day.
How long does the jar last?
Three months if you use one pad daily, or a month at the three-a-day maximum.
Can I use them with other acne products?
Carefully: using another topical acne medicine at the same time makes dryness and irritation more likely, and if that happens the label says to stick to one at a time.
Will it sting?
A brief tingle is common with salicylic acid pads. Keep them away from your eyes, lips and mouth, and rinse with water if any gets in.
Maximum Cleansing or Maximum Action 3-in-1?
Both are 90-pad jars with 2% salicylic acid, so pick one rather than using both. OXY Maximum Action 3-in-1 is the version sold to unclog pores, control oil and retexture; Maximum Cleansing is the deep-cleansing pad.
Can I use OXY pads during pregnancy?
Check with a pharmacist or GP first; OXY's salicylic acid pad labels ask you to consult a health professional if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
