What's the active ingredient in Noxzema Ultimate Clear pads?
Salicylic acid 2%, listed on the US Drug Facts for acne treatment. The label's uses are treating acne, drying up acne pimples and helping prevent new ones.
How often should I use them?
Start once a day on clean skin, wiping a thin layer over the whole affected area, then build up to two or three times a day if your skin copes. If it gets dry or starts to peel, go back to once a day or every other day.
Why do they tingle?
The pads contain eucalyptus leaf oil, camphor and menthol in an alcohol base, which give Noxzema its cooling tingle. Keep them away from your eyes, and rinse well with water if you get any in them.
Can I use them with benzoyl peroxide or other acne products?
Be careful: the label says irritation and dryness are more likely if you use another topical acne medicine at the same time, such as the PanOxyl benzoyl peroxide washes we sell. If irritation occurs, use only one acne product unless a doctor advises otherwise.
Are they suitable for sensitive skin?
They may be too strong for very reactive skin: denatured alcohol is the first inactive ingredient, and the Noxzema pads also contain fragrance and fragrance allergens such as limonene, linalool and eugenol. Patch test first and start with one use a day.
Anything else on the label?
The pads are flammable, so keep them away from fire or flame, and they're for external use only. Keep the tub away from children; if any is swallowed, get medical help straight away.
