Why does the label say 33mg of B6 if it's a 50mg capsule?
50mg is the weight of the pyridoxal-5-phosphate compound, and that provides 33mg of vitamin B6. Each capsule also contains 25mg of magnesium from Albion magnesium bisglycinate.
What is P-5-P?
Pyridoxal-5-phosphate is the coenzyme form of vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal psychological function and the regulation of hormonal activity.
How should I take it?
NOW's US label says one capsule a day with a meal, so the 90 capsules last three months. Don't take more than the label on your bottle states.
Is 33mg of B6 a day too much?
It's more than the NHS suggests: its advice is not to take more than 10mg of vitamin B6 a day from supplements unless a doctor advises it. Talk to your GP or pharmacist before taking NOW P-5-P daily, and don't combine it with other B6 products.
Is it vegan?
Yes, it's a vegetarian and vegan formula: B6, magnesium bisglycinate, rice flour, a hypromellose capsule, cellulose, vegetable stearic acid and silica. It isn't made with wheat, gluten, soy, milk, egg, fish, shellfish or tree nut ingredients.
Can I take it while pregnant?
Ask your doctor first. NOW P-5-P is labelled for adults, with advice to consult a physician if you're pregnant or nursing, taking medication or have a medical condition.
