Is this oregano oil?
No — NOW Oregano is dried oregano leaf (Origanum vulgare), 450 mg per capsule, not the concentrated essential oil. That makes it a much milder option than oregano oil drops or softgels.
How many capsules should I take?
Two capsules a day as needed, preferably with food, which gives 900 mg of oregano leaf. The 100-capsule bottle holds 50 servings.
What is oregano supposed to do?
Oregano has a long culinary and traditional history, but there are no authorised health claims for it in the UK. So we describe what's in the capsule rather than promise an effect.
Is it standardised to carvacrol?
No — the label lists plain oregano leaf with no carvacrol percentage. If you want a standardised extract, this isn't it; NOW Oregano is the whole herb in a capsule.
Is it vegan and gluten-free?
Yes — the capsule is plant cellulose and the only other ingredients are silica and vegetable stearic acid. NOW says it isn't made with wheat, gluten, soy, milk, egg, fish, shellfish or tree nuts, though the factory handles them.
