Your questions, answered
Does this bottle give any sun protection?
None: Maui Babe Browning Lotion contains no sunscreen and doesn't protect against sunburn. If you use an SPF, the label says to apply it first and recommends SPF30 or higher, then put the browning lotion on top.
How often should I reapply on a beach day?
Shake the bottle, apply generously and evenly before going out, then reapply at frequent intervals and every time you swim or towel dry. The 236ml bottle is the size to buy if you'll be doing that day after day.
Will it give me colour without sunshine?
No, the label says it's not a stain, self-tanner or bronzer. Maui Babe works alongside time in the sun, so you'll only see colour after sun exposure.
Can I use it on a sunbed?
Not this formula: Maui Babe's label says to use its separate Salon Formula in tanning beds. This brown 8oz bottle is the outdoor original.
I've never used Maui Babe - anything to know first?
Do a patch test, especially if you have sensitive skin, because the formula contains oils from natural nuts, plants and fruit. Maui Babe also recommends beginners keep sun time to one hour at most, and the lotion shouldn't go on broken or irritated skin.
Can I use it while pregnant or breastfeeding?
Ask your doctor or midwife first: the label asks pregnant and breastfeeding users to get medical advice on product safety. It may also stain light fabrics, furnishings and hair, so let it absorb before you dress.
Original Browning Lotion or the coconut oil version?
We stock both: this 236ml bottle is the original recipe with Kona coffee extract and aloe, while Maui Babe Amazing Browning Lotion with Coconut Oil 236ml is the coconut oil variation. Maui Babe After Browning Lotion 237ml is the after-sun lotion to finish the day.
