Your questions, answered
What's in Willow/Garlic Ear Oil?
Extra virgin olive oil with fresh garlic cloves, calendula flower, willow bark and usnea lichen, plus vitamin E oil. The herbs are certified organic or ethically wild-harvested, and there's no alcohol.
How do I use it?
Shake the Willow/Garlic Ear Oil, then warm the whole bottle in warm water and test a drop on your inner wrist so it's comfortably warm, not hot. Put 3–5 drops in both ears, then cover each ear with clean, dry cotton wool.
How often can I use it?
As needed, up to 5 times a day, according to the directions. They also say to always use it warm and always in both ears.
Is it something to swallow?
No — despite the garlic, Willow/Garlic Ear Oil is for the ears only, not a garlic supplement or softgel. Keep it away from the eyes and out of children's reach.
When should I see a GP instead?
If your child has ear pain with a fever, any discharge from the ear, or you think the eardrum could be damaged, see a GP or pharmacist before putting anything in the ear. An ear oil is no substitute for having a painful ear checked.
Is willow bark OK if my child can't have aspirin?
Ask a pharmacist first: willow bark naturally contains salicin, a salicylate related to aspirin. Avoid the oil if your child is allergic or sensitive to salicylates, or to daisy-family plants such as calendula.
How should I store it?
Keep the cap tight and the bottle away from heat and light, and warm only the bottle you're about to use. Check the bottle for its best-before date.
Individual results may vary.
