How much DHA and EPA is in PeaPod Omega-3?
Three softgels give 1,004mg of omega-3: 675mg DHA, 225mg EPA and 104mg other omega-3 fatty acids, plus 1mg vitamin E from mixed tocopherols.
How many a day, and how long does a bottle last?
Three softgels a day with a meal, so the 90-softgel bottle is a one-month supply.
Why take DHA in pregnancy?
Maternal DHA intake contributes to normal brain and eye development of the foetus and breastfed infants. The benefit is linked to 200mg DHA a day on top of the 250mg EPA and DHA recommended for adults, and one serving of PeaPod Omega-3 gives 675mg DHA.
What fish is it made from?
Herring, mackerel, sardines and anchovies, so it isn't suitable if you have a fish allergy or eat vegetarian. The other ingredients are glycerin, purified water, natural mixed tocopherols and natural citrus flavour.
Will it repeat on me?
Fairhaven adds natural citrus flavour to cut down fishy aftertaste, and taking the softgels with a meal, as the label directs, also helps. Some people find splitting the three softgels across two meals easier.
Why does my bottle say Prenatal DHA + EPA?
Fairhaven has repackaged PeaPod Omega-3 as Prenatal DHA + EPA; the formula and the 90-softgel, one-month pack are unchanged, and you may receive either label.
Can I take it with a prenatal multivitamin?
Yes, fish oil and a prenatal multivitamin are often taken together, and we also stock Fairhaven Health PeaPod Prenatal Multivitamins. If you take other supplements or medicines, show the labels to your midwife or GP.
