What does "80% butyric acid" mean?
Sodium butyrate is the sodium salt of butyric acid, and about 80% of its weight is the butyrate part; the rest is sodium. So 600mg gives roughly 480mg of butyric acid and about 125mg of sodium.
How long does a bottle last?
A bottle of Ultra Lyte Sodium Butyrate lasts 45 days at one two-capsule serving a day. Most people take butyrate with a meal; check the bottle for Ultra Lyte's timing.
What is butyrate?
A short-chain fatty acid that your gut bacteria make when they ferment dietary fibre. Ultra Lyte Sodium Butyrate provides it directly, which is why people often take it alongside a fibre-rich diet.
Why is it microencapsulated?
Butyric acid smells strongly, rather like rancid butter. Microencapsulation coats the powder inside each capsule, so the bottle is far less pungent to open.
Is it OK on a low-sodium diet?
