This is the most confectionery-like bar Trec makes: real milk chocolate with at least 32% cocoa solids over soft nougat and a sugar-free high-protein caramel filling. The protein comes from whey and milk concentrates - and protein contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass.
What's actually in it?
Whey protein concentrate and milk protein for the protein, maltitol in place of some sugar, milk chocolate, protein crisps, hazelnut-peanut paste and vanilla extract. Note the nuts and milk if allergies are a concern - the label has the full list.
Nougat & Caramel or Peanut & Caramel?
Nougat & Caramel is softer and closer to classic confectionery; Peanut & Caramel (49g) is chewier with a bigger peanut hit. Both are on-the-go protein snacks - most people rotate the two.
Why maltitol - and any side effects?
Maltitol sweetens the caramel without the sugar load, which keeps the bar's sugar down. Like all polyols it can have a laxative effect in excess, so keep it to a bar or so a day.
