How much folate is in each tablet?
1,000mcg of folate as L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate (methyl folate), which is 500% of the UK NRV of 200mcg. At one tablet a day, the 60 tablets last two months.
How do I take a MicroLingual tablet?
Let one tablet dissolve under your tongue; it's tiny and melts in moments, with no water needed. Superior Source says it can also be chewed or swallowed.
What else is in the tablet?
Lactose (from milk), acacia gum, natural cherry flavour and 1mg of stevia leaf extract. Because of the lactose, Superior Source Methyl Folate isn't suitable for vegans or anyone with a milk allergy.
What does folate contribute to?
Folate contributes to normal blood formation, normal homocysteine metabolism, the reduction of tiredness and fatigue and maternal tissue growth during pregnancy.
Can I take methyl folate when trying for a baby?
Speak to your GP or midwife first. NHS advice for women trying to conceive and in early pregnancy is specifically 400mcg of folic acid a day, and this label gives no pregnancy directions.
Should I take it with vitamin B12?
Many people do, because high folate intakes can mask a vitamin B12 deficiency. We stock Superior Source Methylcobalamin B-12 1,000mcg; the B-12, B-6 & Folic Acid tablet already contains folic acid, so you wouldn't normally take both.
