What's in a daily dose?
Two capsules give 5,000µg biotin, 15mg zinc, 2mg copper, 1,350µg vitamin A, 90mg vitamin C, 10µg vitamin D3, 33.5mg vitamin E, 5mg thiamine, 20mg vitamin B6 and 20mg pantothenic acid. A 1,400mg complex adds bovine collagen peptides, OptiMSM, kelp, bamboo and horsetail silica, PABA, L-lysine, L-proline and hyaluronic acid.
What can it do for hair, skin and nails?
Biotin and zinc contribute to the maintenance of normal hair and skin, zinc also to normal nails, copper to normal hair pigmentation, and vitamin C to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin. Hairtonic for Women won't fix hair loss with a medical cause, so see your GP if shedding is sudden or patchy.
How do I take it, and when will I see a difference?
Two capsules a day, with or without food, so the 60-capsule tub lasts 30 days. Hair grows about a centimetre a month, so judge it after two to three months, not two weeks.
Is it vegetarian?
No — the capsule shell is vegetarian hypromellose, but the formula contains bovine collagen peptides from cattle, so it isn't suitable for vegetarians or vegans.
Can I take it if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
Snap asks pregnant or nursing women, under-18s and anyone with a medical condition to check with a doctor first. Take the label with you: each dose has 1,350µg vitamin A as retinyl palmitate, and the kelp supplies iodine.
Will the biotin affect blood tests?
It can: high-dose biotin like the 5,000µg in Snap Hairtonic for Women can distort some laboratory tests, including thyroid and troponin tests. Tell the clinic or GP surgery you take it before any blood test.
Women's or men's Hairtonic?
Snap Hairtonic for Men, which we also stock, has the same vitamin and mineral amounts and 1,400mg of the same collagen, MSM, silica, kelp and amino acid ingredients, grouped into different blends. Pick one; there's no point taking both.
