What's in the FertilAid Value Pack?
One 90-capsule bottle of FertilAid for Women and one of FertilAid for Men. Each partner takes three capsules a day, so both bottles last 30 days and run out together.
How do the his and hers formulas differ?
FertilAid for Women gives 1,020mcg DFE folate as methylfolate, 18mg iron, 150mcg iodine and 10mcg vitamin D3, plus chasteberry (vitex), red clover and ginkgo. FertilAid for Men gives 30mg zinc and 100mcg selenium with 808mg L-carnitine, maca, Asian ginseng and coenzyme Q10.
What do the key nutrients do?
In the women's formula, folate contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy. In the men's, zinc contributes to normal fertility and reproduction and selenium contributes to normal spermatogenesis; the herbal extracts in both have no authorised claims.
Can we share one bottle?
No. The formulas are built for different people: the women's has 18mg iron and herbs the men's doesn't, while the men's has twice the zinc (30mg vs 15mg) and no iron. Each partner should stick to their own bottle.
What happens when we get a positive test?
She stops FertilAid for Women once pregnancy is confirmed and moves to a prenatal vitamin, as Fairhaven advises; it isn't for use while breastfeeding either. Speak to your midwife or GP about which prenatal suits you.
Can we take other supplements alongside?
Avoid doubling up, as both are full multivitamins. Three capsules of FertilAid for Men already give 30mg zinc and 1,500mcg RAE vitamin A (as beta-carotene), so skip a separate multi, and ask your GP or pharmacist first if either of you takes prescription medicine.
How long should we take FertilAid before expecting a change?
Plan on at least three months together, as sperm take around three months to develop. If you've been trying for a year, or six months if she is 36 or over, the NHS advises seeing your GP alongside any supplement routine.
