How much zinc is in each capsule?
15mg of zinc, which is 150% of the daily reference intake, in one capsule. That's the whole daily portion, so the 120 capsules last four months.
What does 'organic' mean on Essensey Zinc Organic?
It refers to the chemistry, not farming: the zinc comes as zinc gluconate, an organic salt, rather than an inorganic form such as zinc oxide or sulphate. It isn't a certified-organic product.
What does zinc do?
Zinc contributes to the normal function of the immune system and to the maintenance of normal skin, hair and nails, the two claims printed on the Essensey label.
When is the best time to take it?
One capsule once a day after a meal, with enough water to swallow it. Zinc on an empty stomach can make some people feel queasy, which is why the label puts it after food.
Can I take it with Essensey Magnesium + Zinc + B6?
Better not to double up: Essensey Magnesium + Zinc + B6 already gives 15mg of zinc per daily serving, so the two together would mean 30mg a day. Choose Essensey Zinc Organic if you want zinc on its own.
Is it a liquid or a capsule?
Essensey Zinc Organic is a capsule, not drops: a plant-based HPMC shell filled with zinc gluconate and maltodextrin. If you'd prefer liquid zinc, Ultra Lyte Ionic Zinc drops are the option we stock.
Who should avoid it?
The label says children and pregnant or breastfeeding women must not take it. It's made where milk, soya, cereals containing gluten, fish and peanuts are handled, so check with care if you have a severe allergy.
