What's in each capsule?
600 mg of N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC), 50 mcg of selenium from SelenoExcell high-selenium yeast and 50 mcg of molybdenum as a glycinate chelate, in a vegetarian capsule.
How do I take it, and how long does the bottle last?
One capsule twice a day with food, which gives 1,200 mg of NAC a day. At that rate the 60-capsule bottle of NAC Detox Regulators lasts 30 days.
What do the selenium and molybdenum do?
Selenium contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress and to normal immune function, and molybdenum contributes to normal sulphur amino acid metabolism. NAC itself has no authorised health claim in the UK, so we describe it rather than promise results.
Is NAC the same as glutathione?
No — NAC is a stable form of the amino acid cysteine, which the body uses as one of the building blocks for making its own glutathione. Doctor's Best NAC Detox Regulators supplies the NAC, not glutathione itself.
Who should check with a doctor first?
The label asks you to consult your doctor before using NAC if you're pregnant or nursing, or have a history of stomach ulcers, cardiovascular or kidney problems. Check with your GP or pharmacist too if you take any medication.
Is it vegetarian?
Yes — the capsule is hypromellose (plant cellulose), and the only other ingredients are citric acid and natural vanilla flavour. The selenium comes from yeast.
