Nursery has become a germ exchange - why do parents give echinacea?
Echinacea is the classic winter herb of Western tradition - the purple coneflower found in family medicine cupboards for generations. As a traditional herb it carries no authorised claims, so we will not promise fewer sniffles; we can say these drops are designed for children per the label ages, in a gentle liquid format made for small people.
How do I give it, and from what age?
Dosing is by the age guidance on the label - follow it exactly rather than guessing, and if you are not sure it suits your child, a quick word with your pharmacist or GP settles it.
When in the year do families use it?
Overwhelmingly through the nursery-and-school bug season - autumn to spring - typically as a short-course habit per the label rather than year-round. The label directions cover how long to use it at a stretch.
My child is properly unwell - echinacea or the doctor?
The doctor, always. A traditional herbal drop is a cupboard companion for ordinary winters, never a reason to delay seeing your GP or pharmacist about a child who is genuinely ill, feverish or getting worse.
